Nairobi
Wake up in Nairobi, Kenya! Meet your fellow tour members for breakfast and
our
Introductory Meeting. Spend the day getting acquainted not only with each other,
but also with Nairobi on our City Tour. There's never a dull moment in this
dynamic and bustling city, and it is a great place to shop, people watch, and
get ready for our adventures around Kenya. The tour starts with a visit to
the National Museum with its excellent displays of East African flora and fauna,
cultural artifacts, and exhibits that give insight into the East African world.
We then proceed on a tour of the city until we stop for lunch. Next we visit
the farmhouse that was the former residence of Karen Blixen, author of Out
of Africa, located outside of Nairobi. After a tour of the farmhouse/museum,
we return to our hotel for a rest. Before dinner we meet for our Safari Briefing
to get ready for our days ahead, and then dine together at Ristorante La Tratoria
(a wonderful Italian restaurant).

Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Rise early and board our flight to Amboseli National Park. There is nothing
quite like viewing Africa from above; the view is spectacular as we fly over
the scenic Athi Plains into the bush country of Amboseli. Amboseli is located
in the heartland of Masai country and lies in the shadow of snowcapped Kilimanjaro,
Africa's highest mountain at 19,340ft. The 1,259 square mile park is comprised
of open savanna plains, acacia woodland, swamps, and marshes. In the park game
is easy to spot, and it is one of the best locations in East Africa to view
wild elephant herds. Zebra, impala, wildebeest, Cape Buffalo, Grant's Gazelle
and Masai giraffe are all relatively easy to view and photograph. Other animals
that we may see include lion, cheetah, warthog, baboon, jackal, hyena, flamingo,
among others. Morning and afternoon game drives are planned with an evening
of relaxation at the lodge

5
Amboseli to Lake Nakuru
This morning we fly back to Nairobi and from the airport transfer into our
safari vehicles.
We proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park on a drive through towns, villages,
and beautiful Kikuyu countryside. Watching the cultural life along the way
is utterly fascinating. We arrive in Nakuru, the fourth largest city in Kenya
and Kenya's farming center, in time for lunch. Located next to the city is
the famous Lake Nakuru National Park The lake is itself is a shallow soda lake
that is one of the most famous bird sanctuaries in the world as seen in the
movie "Out of Africa." At times vast concentrations of more than
one million pink flamingos live on the lake, forming one of the most extraordinary
spectacles in nature. Lake Nakuru National Park comprises both the lake and
the surrounding area. The landscape of the park is a mixture
of rocky hillsides, marshy grassland, and stunning acacia woodland. The wildlife
at Nakuru is ample: besides the teeming bird life you may see rhino, zebra,
waterbuck, buffalo, hippo, reedbuck, impala, baboon, and other game. We spend
the afternoon on safari observing and photographing birds and wild animals.
An afternoon walk along the shore of the lake is a refreshing experience, and
it is here that you can photograph flamingos relatively close up. Dinner and
overnight at the lodge.

6
Lake Nakuru to Samburu National Park
Departing Nakuru we pass through lush farmland rife with coffee and tea plantations.
We
make a stop at Thompson Falls, the highest falls in Kenya before crossing the
equator where we stop for photos and see a mind-boggling demonstration of the
Cornelius Effect. Crossing into the Northern Hemisphere we set our sights on
Samburu National Reserve, located in the semi-arid northern frontier of Kenya.
Samburu, located along the banks of the Ewaso NyiroRiver, is much less traveled
than many of the other Kenyan Parks. The Ewaso is a permanent river, and the
area boasts a wide variety of animals rarely found elsewhere--Grevy's Zebra,
reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, for example. We also have the
chance to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, Guenthers dik-dik, and crocodiles
along the river banks. Bird enthusiasts will be happy to learn that it is possible
to spot as many as one hundred species of birds in a single day. Samburu is
named after the colorful local tribe who dye their hair with ochre--the same
color as the soil found in the landscape. We view game en route to our lodge
at sunset. Dinner and overnight at our lodge that overlooks the Ewaso River.

reading and relaxing at the lodge pool side, or on the lodge decks that overlook
the Ewaso River. Today you have the opportunity of observing a traditional
dance performance by Samburu villagers who live nearby (this is an optional

Day 8
Samburu to Mount Kenya Safari Club
After a morning game drive, we head south crossing the equator once again arriving
at
Mt. Kenya Safari Club in the early afternoon. The Mt. Kenya Safari Club is
sprawled on
the slopes of majestic Mount Kenya (Africa's second tallest mountain) and is
one of the
world's most exotic and luxurious holiday resorts. All the amenities you would
expect from such an establishment are here, including riding, golf, trout fishing,
tennis, heated swimming pool and sauna, and regular performances by traditional
dancers. You will be treated to gracious hospitality, and sumptuous dinning
at this exotic establishment that is set over a 100 acre park with breathtaking
views of Mount Kenya (weather permitting) . The resort was founded by the late
actor William Holden and distinguished visitors such as Winston Churchill and
Clarke Gable used to make regular visits here. The day and evening are yours
to relish in.
Day 9
Mount Kenya to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast we are transferred to the airport where we board our plane
which takes us
on a spectacular flight over the renowned Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara
National
Reserve. Masai Mara, dotted with acacia trees in vast savanna grassland with
rolling hills, is located on the Kenyan side of the Serengeti Plain. This is
safari land at its most grand and you will be stunned by the number of wild
animals you will see! It is here that we may witness one of the greatest spectacles
in nature-the "annual migration" where over one million animals cross
into Masai Mara from the adjacent Serengeti. The Mara is well-known for its
great herds of plain's game, black manned lion, leopard, cheetah, and elephant,
as well as virtually every other kind of animal found in Kenya. Culturally,
the Reserve is extraordinary because of the proud and colorful Masai who inhabit
the area. An afternoon game drive is planned for today. Highlights during our
days here include phenomenal game viewing on multiple safaris, a walk along
the banks of the Mara River where hippos and crocodiles are often seen in great
numbers, a visit to a Masai village, and an optional early morning *Balloon
Safari. Settling in at our deluxe tented camp you will have the satisfied feeling
that you have come to the heart of wild safari country.
Wildlife Lodge or Deluxe Tented Camp
*An exhilarating experience is an early morning balloon safari over the Reserve.
As the morning sky
lights up, you silently travel over the plains viewing and photographing the
awesome spectacle below. Few experiences on Earth can rival this one. As your
balloon touches down a champagne breakfast awaits you. Price: $380.00 (subject
