Day Three
Nairobi
Wake up in Nairobi, Kenya! Meet with your Tour Leader and Safari Guide/Driver for an
"Introductory to Kenya" meeting. Spend the day getting acquainted with Nairobi on our City Tour. There's never a dull moment in this dynamic and bustling city and it is a great place to shop, people watch, and get ready for your adventures around East Africa. The tour starts with a visit to the National Museum with its excellent displays of East African flora and fauna, cultural artifacts, and exhibits that give insight into the East African world. We then proceed on a tour of some the most interesting places to visit in Nairobi: Giraffe Manor, Karen Blixon Museum (farmhouse that was the former residence of Karen Blixon, author of Out of Africa), and the Bomas of Kenya (traditional dancing and
introduction to Tribal Kenya). You may visit all three places or choose any other activity
you might be interested in such as shopping or simply relaxing around the pool of your Hotel. After dinner meet for a Safari Briefing to get ready for your days of adventure ahead. ?Selected Nairobi Hotel

Day Four Nairobi
Samburu National Reserve
Today you set your sights on Samburu National Reserve, located in the
semi-arid northern frontier of Kenya. Samburu, located along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, is much less traveled than many of the other Kenyan Parks. The Ewaso is a permanent river, and the area boasts a wide variety of animals rarely found elsewhere--Grevy's Zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, for example. You also have the chance to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, Guenthers dik-dik, and crocodiles along the river banks, among many other species or wild animals. Bird enthusiasts will be happy to learn that it is possible to spot as many as one hundred species of birds in a single day. Samburu is named after the colorful local tribe who dye their hair with ochre--the same color as the soil found in the land. Today you will spend most of your afternoon on safari. ? Deluxe Tented Camp or Wildlife Lodge

Day Five
Samburu

day reading and relaxing at the lodge. Events around the lodge provide for cultural entertainment (optional). Delight in an evening of fine dining and relaxation.

Day Six
Samburu
Mount Kenya Safari Club
Arrive at Mt. Kenya Safari Club in the early afternoon. The Mt. Kenya Safari Club is sprawled on the slopes of majestic Mount Kenya (Africa's second tallest mountain) and is one of the world's most exotic and luxurious holiday resorts. All the amenities you would expect from such an establishment are here, including riding, golf, trout fishing, tennis, heated swimming pool and sauna, and regular performances by traditional dancers. You will be treated to gracious hospitality, and sumptuous dinning at this exotic establishment that is set over a 100 acre park with breathtaking views (weather permitting) of Mount Kenya . The resort was founded by the late actor William Holden and distinguished visitors such as Winston Churchill and Clarke Gable used to make regular visits here. The day and evening are yours to relish in.

Day Seven
Mount Kenya Safari Club to Aberdare National Park
Continue by safari vehicle to lush Aberdare National Park and the ARK. The ARK overlooks a watering hole that is teeming with wildlife. Rhino, leopard, elephant, and a host of colorful birds are attracted to the area. All rooms have excellent views of the plains below and across to Mt. Kenya. The ARK is surrounded by its own private 500 hectare wildlife sanctuary. You will have the following activities to select from: walking safaris, game drives, swimming, tennis, golf, trout fishing, and more.

Day Eight
Aberdare
Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast you are transferred to the airport where you board a plane which takes you on a spectacular flight over the renowned Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Masai Mara, dotted with acacia trees in vast savanna grassland with rolling
hills, is located on the Kenyan side of the Serengeti Plain. This is safari land at its most
grand and you will be stunned by the number of wild animals you will see. It is here that we may witness one of the greatest spectacles in nature-the "annual migration" where over one million animals cross into Masai Mara from the adjacent Serengeti. The Mara is well-known for its great herds of plain's game, black manned lion, leopard, cheetah, and elephant, as well as virtually every other kind of animal found in Kenya. Culturally, the Reserve is extraordinary because of the proud and colorful Masai who inhabit the area. An afternoon game drive is planned for today. Highlights during your time here include phenomenal game viewing and a walk along the banks of the Mara River where hippos and crocodiles are often seen in great numbers. ? Deluxe Tented Camp

Days Nine and Ten
Masai Mara
Full days on safari. An exhilarating experience is an early morning Hot-Air Balloon Safari over the Reserve (optional). As the morning skylights up, you silently travel over the plains viewing and photographing the awesome spectacle below. Few experiences on Earth can rival this one. As your balloon touches down a champagne breakfast awaits you.

Day Eleven
Masai Mara

Day Twelve
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast drive to Tarangire and spend the day game viewing along
the course of the Tarangire River. The area is famous for its magnificent baobab trees which dot the rolling hills; the park is one of the most beautiful in Tanzania, and it is second only to Ngorongoro in its density of Tanzanian wildlife. There are large herds of elephant that inhabit the region, especially in the dry season (July-September) and there is a host of other animals including lion, giraffe, impala, gazelle, waterbuck buffalo, zebra, which can often be seen in abundance.
Deluxe Tented Camp or Wildlife Lodge

Day Thirteen
Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast and a morning game drive, drive northwest on bumpy roads (two hour drive and utterly fascinating) to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its elusive tree-climbing lions, hippo, buffalo, plains animals, baboon, mongoose, and bird life including flamingos. Within the park area there is great diversity of habitats including open grasslands, forests, swamps, as well as the lake itself. Your tented lodge has splendid views and is located close to the park.
Deluxe Tented Camp or Wildlife Lodge

Day Fourteen
Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater
Proceed to the famed Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro, an extinct volcano which has been referred to as the eighth wonder of the world and the Garden of Eden.
Ngorongoro towers above the Northern Serengeti Plain and it is celebrated as containing some of the most magnificent scenery in the world; its 105 square mile crater is the largest unbroken crater on Earth and is packed with just about every species of wildlife found in East Africa. Arrive at Ngorongoro in time for an early afternoon game drive. Spend the rest of the day inside the crater. The drive from the rim down winding dirt tracks brings you to Africa's largest permanent concentrations of wildlife. Some 25,000 animals live on the crater floor and, because the grasses are short, game is easily spotted and can often be approached quite closely. It is also one of the few parks in Africa that rhinos are relatively easy to locate.
Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge

Day Fifteen
Ngorongoro Crater
Full day of game viewing in crater. Evening entertainment at lodge.
Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge

Day Sixteen Ngorongoro to Arusha ? Nairobi and Departure ? USA

This world-famous restaurant is great fun and you can sample an assortment of meats from zebra to crocodile (vegetarian meals are an option). After dinner you are transferred to the airport for your return to the USA.
